The importance of the Polycarbonate sheets UV protection is well known to all sheets producers and customers.
When production of Polycarbonate sheets started over 30 years ago, producers were not aware of the necessity of a protection system against ultra violet solar radiation. Later on, customers started to complain about the products’ failure after a short service time.
Along the years, different techniques were employed in order to protect the PC sheets from the solar radiation. But the sole solution today is via co-extrusion of UV compound on the sheet upper layer (or both side layers).
The importance of this protection layer is clear to any PC sheets producer. In fact, this layer is the “life insurance” of the Polycarbonate sheets. If something is wrong with the UV compound or with the implementation of this layer, this will be reflected later during the sheet service life.
One of the first to adopted the co-extrusion technique was Polygal industries.
In 2002, we POLIROOF PLASTICS GROUP adopted the co-extrusion technique.
